APRIL REFLECTIONS

APRIL REFLECTIONS

by Caylie Warkentin

Dear readers,

We created our Reflections blog as a space for our wonderings, ruminations, and local findings. It is a place of exploration - for long-form writing and deep-dives into our interests and curiosities.

Alongside our individual blog pieces, we also curate a monthly Reflections recap in which we highlight the work we've accomplished - from launching a product to our current community-favourites. Think local in-season recipes, beloved neighbourhood cafés, art exhibitions, and books we just can't put down.

While our newsletter is exclusively available to our mailing list subscribers (you can sign up here!), we want to share some of our favourites with you here - they're just that good. This is the highlight-reel of our monthly newsletters. But don't forget to sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know about local happenings within our Vancouver community and our work as a Vancouver-based wellness beauty startup.

Warmly,
ARALEA BEAUTY

1. Discover Livia Sweets - a small bakery-meets-Italian-restaurant situated on Commercial Drive that offers a menu featuring classic Italian dishes and local delicacies like in-season nettle danishes and cherry blossom cream-filled pastries.

Plus they share favourite recipes on their blog, like a blood orange tart - a bright and vibrant spring recipe!

1. Aptly named Everything Under the Sun, this exhibition at The Vancouver Art Gallery features the photographic collection of late art collector Andrew Gruft.

The exhibit includes contemporary, modern, and historical work from photographers like Anne Brigman and Issei Suda, among others. The exhibit is on until September 11 2022.

1. The first solar eclipse of 2022 was on April 30. Eclipses occur in a sequence - the next eclipse was a full lunar eclipse on May 15, and the next one is November 8th.

While you're waiting to catch the next eclipse,
read about the history of 'eclipse chasers' and those who travel the globe in pursuit to witness every eclipse.

our everyday favourites

Koko Monk Chocolates

For all of our sweet cravings! Koko Monk Chocolates is a chocolate shop located in Kitsilano known for their raw, vegan, sugar-free chocolate bars and decadent truffles - think chocolate infused with blue cheese and pear. We love to pop a bag of their chocolate-dipped sundried figs into our bag for a tasty, and healthy, pick-me-up snack!
